SINTEG Systems, a TU Delft spin-out developing advanced ultrasonic inspection technology for composite materials, today announced a partnership with CTA (Centre Technologique en Aérospatiale / Aerospace Technology Centre), one of Canada’s three applied research centres for aerospace materials and manufacturing. The partnership is supported through NATO DIANA’s Testing Evaluation, Validation and Verification (TEVV) funding mechanism, part of the DIANA programme.
Under the collaboration, CTA will act as an R&D partner to SINTEG, running independent testing and validation of the company’s inspection technology and supplying representative composite structures. The work builds on SINTEG’s status as a NATO DIANA 2026 cohort member and is designed to strengthen the technical evidence base for the technology’s use across the aerospace and defence supply chain.
As composite content in aerospace and defence structures continues to rise, both manufacturers and MRO providers face a growing bottleneck: existing NDT methods cannot always keep pace with increased complexity, high-rate manufacturing, changing workforce, new joining techniques, and in-service inspection demands. SINTEG’s technology addresses this directly: it inspects from a single side, reaches enclosed and hard-to-access structures, assesses new joining techniques such as welds and adhesive bonds, and covers large surface areas in a single pass rather than point-by-point scanning. CTA brings over three decades of applied research experience with North-American aerospace manufacturers, and their expertise in ultrasonic non-destructive testing, in manufacturing of composite parts with complex geometries, and their capabilities in mechanical testing for validation and pre-certification purposes.
